Sunday mornings at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market often include plenty of Tweet-able moments, but they usually involve celebrity sightings or being inadvertently filmed as part of a reality show.

This past Sunday the best Tweets were aimed at a Vending Machine sponsored by @SeedsOfChange and using the Hashtag #PledgeToPlant.

Anyone who tweeted to @SeedsOfChange with #PledgeToPlant and an additional, randomly-generated and individually-customized hashtag was treated to a free packet of seeds from @SeedsOfChange.

I got my packet by tweeting to the machine Sunday, and along the way I got information about Seeds Of Change’s garden grant program, which in 2014 is awarding $190,000 to school and community groups who want to build or enhance their gardens.

In order to be chosen for one of the garden grants, groups must submit an application by March 31st and then, if chosen as one of the finalists, must also win an online vote.

Two groups will win $20,000 grants and 15 groups will win $10,000 grants, for a total of $190,000 being given away. Please check out Seeds of Change Garden Grant website for more information.
